RSSBar

Support

Your sources, one calm place.

Get in touch. Email [email protected] and we will get back to you. Include your Mac or iPhone model and the feed address if a source is misbehaving.

Where is RSSBar on my Mac?

Look for the radio-wave icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen, with your unread count beside it. Click it for the latest headlines. The full reader opens when RSSBar starts; to bring it back, click the window button in the menu bar panel, or press ⌘ N. Closing the reader keeps RSSBar running in the menu bar.

How do I add a feed?

Open Settings (⌘ ,) and choose Sources. Paste a website address and choose Find feeds, or paste a feed address directly. RSS, Atom and JSON Feed all work. To move from another reader, export an OPML file there and use Feeds → Import Subscriptions.

Why does a story show only a headline?

Some publishers put only a headline or summary in their feed. Choose Load full article - it works on many sites - or open the original website. Paywalled sites still need your subscription.

A source says it couldn't update.

The publisher's feed may be down, moved, or blocking requests for a while. RSSBar keeps showing what it already downloaded and tries again on the next refresh. If it keeps failing, check the feed address in Settings → Sources.

I am not getting alerts.

How do smart searches work?

Choose New smart search in the sidebar. Add words or phrases to include and to exclude, pick the sources, and preview the matches before you save. Matching ignores case and accents and respects whole words, so "AI" does not match "retail". Exclusions always win. Turn on Notify me to be alerted when a new story matches.

Keyboard shortcuts

In the full reader: J/K or arrows to move between stories, N next unread, M mark read or unread, S save, O open in your browser, V switch to the website, U unread only, / search, I article information, and ⌃ ⌘ S to show or hide the sidebar. ⌘ R refreshes.

How do I sync my Mac and iPhone?

Turn on Sync my library in Settings → iCloud on each device, signed in to the same Apple Account. Subscriptions, folders, saved articles, read status and smart searches sync; appearance and alert settings stay per device. Sync uses your own iCloud storage - there is no RSSBar account.

How do I remove RSSBar and its data?

Quit RSSBar from the ⋯ menu in its menu bar panel and move it to the Trash; on iPhone or iPad, delete the app. This removes everything stored on that device. If you used sync, turn it off first; records already in iCloud can be removed in your iCloud storage settings.
